Description

Washington, DC, Smithsonian Institution, 1878. Folio (29.5 x 23.3 cm). 138 pp., 11 engraved plates. Contemporary half cloth over marbled boards. Gilt title on the spine. Speckled edges. = A classic study on the Acalephae with all the fine engravings. Published in the Institution's Contributions to Knowledge (part 242), and one of the rarer parts of that series. Printing and publication apparently started as early as February 1877. Old stamps on front free endpaper and title erased, otherwise very good; text and plates clean. Not in Nissen ZBI.
