Edizione: the fine limited editions club printing of flaubert's first published work, considered his masterpiece and a masterpiece of 19th century literature. it is a seminal work of realism and one of the most influential novels ever written. the title was a pleasing choice for artist gunter böhmer. although böhmer devoted himself primarily to drawing, and left behind thousands of drafts and sketches, he is best remembered among the public for his sensitive book illustrations. fritz löffler, a longtime contributor to the dresden art collections, counts gunter böhmer among the greatest draftsmen of the 20th century.
