Paris, Méquignon-Marvis, 1818. 8vo (20.3 x 12.3 cm). xvi, 558 pp.; 19th century quarter morocco over brown paper boards. Spine with gilt lines, ornaments, and title. Edges yellow. = A rare work, accumulating all French mineral water springs and spas, their mineral contents (grouped according to main mineral, such as ferrugineuses, salines, etc., and the ailments the are supposed to relieve. The author, Philippe Patissier was a French medical doctor who wrote much about medicinal sources and their therapeutical value. Provenance: On the front pastedown a mineralogical bookplate of the French mineralogist and professor at the École des Mines, Claude Jean Guy Guillemin (1923-1994), who was a co-founder of the International Mineralogical Association. some rubbing to the boards, a single wormhole in the spine, not reaching the book block. Otherwise, a very good, clean copy. Neither in Brunet nor in Cat. BM(NH).
