Description

No marks or inscriptions. A very clean very tight copy with bright unmarked boards and no bumping to corners. Price clipped dust jacket not marked or torn with creasing to upper and lower rear edges. 336pp. James Maxton was Britain's most charismatic socialist politician of the inter-war years and the best-known platform orator of his time. He was MP for Bridgetown in Glasgow from 1922 until his death in 1946. Gordon Brown's biography examines the shaping of Maxton's political career from Conservative student to socialist teacher in Glasgow, and eventually on to leadership of the Independant Labour Party.
