Very Good Turkish Paperback. Cr. 8vo. (19 x 13 cm). In Turkish. 4 volumes set: ([iv], 396 p.; [9], 343 p.; 386 p.; 417 p.). Milletlerin zenginligi. [= The wealth of nations]. 4 volumes set. Translated by Haldun Derin. Slightly toned and stains on covers. Otherwise a good set. The Wealth of Nations was published in 1776 and translated to different European languages in a short period. It points out that the book attracted attention in Europe. The book which is one of the masterpieces in Economics was translated to Turkish 172 years after its first edition. In spite of the late translation of the book, Adam Smith was a well known Economist by Ottoman managers and intellectuals in the 19th century. The Liberal thought he had disseminated to Empire in this century. The first Turkish translation of The Wealth of Nations which was published in 1948-1955 didn't contain the fifth book.
