The earliest known description of the mosses of the Amazone region and its tributaries, including parts of the Andes, from the extensive collections made by Spruce and by Weir, Burchell which are held in the Herbarium at Kew. Many are newly described. The geographical sections are divided as follows: Flumen Amazonum, Fluvium Negro, Flumen Orinoco, Andes Quitenses sive Aequatoriales, Andes Peruvianae. Concluded with a large index. Published in the Society's Journal, Botany section, Volume 12. Provenance: Brighton Public library, with an old oval library label on the spine foot; two more library labels on the front pastedown, and a vague stamp on the title page verso. Spine slightly sunned, some spotting to the first and last few leaves, endpapers cracked, otherwise a very good copy. Stafleu and Cowan, 6137.
