Description
PIO, NICOLA. As A Collector of Drawings Bjurström, Per Description du livre: Sweden 1995, 1995. Nicola Pio, who was born circa 1677 and can be traced until 1733, was a connoisseur and collector living in Rome. Though he was initially interested in prints, he began to focus increasingly on drawings. In 1724, he wrote about 225 painters, sculptors and architects, and accompanied this work with portraits of all the artists documented, as well as a collection of drawings by them. 160 portraits have survived, most of them in the Nationalmuseum in Stockholm. Another 70 drawings from his collection have been identified. This book presents an account of Pio's activity as a collector as well as the catalogue of the known portraits and drawings from his collection. , English, Year1995, Illust. B/W253, Illust.
