Description

Londini Gothorum, Lundae, Berlingiana; Upsaliae, Leffler et Sebell, 1828-1839. Three works in one. 8vo (20.0 x 11.5). xii, 306; 80, 64 pp. Contemporary tree calf. Blind-tooled and giltornamented spine with gilt-lettered morocco label. Speckled edges. = Of the first paper, this is the second, expanded edition; the first being 1814-1824 with only 122 pp. (see Stafleu and Cowan, 1862). The second and third paper are forming a sequel to the first paper, but as pointed out by Stafleu and Cowan, these are only the first two parts. They state that the first part should have 84 pages. This copy has 80, but that does look like being the last and we assume this to be complete. The third paper runs to p. 64, which covers the sub parts I-IV (the complete Altera). Still later, a Pars Tertia was issued 1843-1845 - with sub-parts I-XIII - which is not included here. Elias Fries (1794-1878) was one of the founders of taxonomic mycology. The Novitiarum parts are rare. Stafleu and Cowan, 1871, 1873.
