This is a very good hardcover copy with just light wear. Blue cloth covers have light soil. Very clean inside. Classic work surveying the wide variety of ornamental motifs that artists have used through the centuries to decorate all manner of applied arts, from handicrafts like pottery and clothing to luxurious metalwork and jewelry. This edition was printed in Germany using sheets from the original edition. 122 full-page color plates reproducing over 2000 decorative motifs from the arts of Asia, primitive Europe, North, Central and South America, Africa, Oceania and the peasant arts of all of Europe. Preface by Otto von Falke. Introduction by Bossert. Catalog with extensive notes on the plates, identifying each piece or motif. 15 1/2" high X 11" wide.
