8vo., Fourth Edition, with mounted chromolithographed frontispiece (original tissue guard present), engraved title-vignette, 7 fine mounted chromolithographed plates (all original tissue guards present), 24 woodcut illustrations in the text, and 9 folding engraved and coloured maps; original terracotta diced cloth, upper board blocked in gilt, gilt back, green endpapers, expertly rebacked with old backstrip laid down, a very good, bright, clean copy. With the contemporary trace ticket of Sanders of Upper Tooting on front paste-down, and binder's ticket of Edmonds & Remnants on rear paste-down. Published in the same year as the first edition. This edition has a new title-vignette and an extra woodcut illustration. This work is effectively the forerunner of the Alpine Club Journal.
