Description
Edizione: the author's first book, and probably not sold commercially. the publication contains his highly thought of sonnets, including the dedicatory sonnet to the author's famous father, samuel taylor coleridge. it is for these sonnets that hartley coleridge's literary reputation chiefly rests. while overshadowed, of course, by his father (one of the most influential figures in english literature), hartley coleridge is a romantic-era poet who's talents should not be dismissed.<br> although hartley was the subject of two of his father’s poems—“frost at midnight” and “the nightingale”— he was nonetheless estranged from his parents in his youth and was raised by the poet robert southey.
