Folio (327x225 mm). Engraved frontispiece with Cavalli's coat-of-arms, [12], IX-XCIV, [2] pp. Collation: a8+2 b-f8. Engraved vignette with the allegory of Venice on the title page. With 48 engraved ornamental initials (partly repeated), 15 engraved head- and tail-pieces (partly repeated), and several small woodcut ornaments. Text in roman and italic. Contemporary cardboards covered with decorative paper, red and blue marbled edges (small lack of paper on spine and along the front cover's edges). Some pale staining on a few leaves, all in all a fresh, wide-margined copy.
First and only edition, edited by Claudio Mussati, who signs the dedication, of this collection of poems written by several members of the Accademia dei Ricovrati on the occasion of Marino Cavalli's departure from his office as “provveditore” in Padua.
The Accademia dei Ricovrati (now the Accademia Galileiana) was founded in Padua in 1599 by Federico Cornaro. Most of the original members were professors at the University of Padua, including Galileo Galilei (cf. Maylender, IV, pp. 440-445).
