Description
Early and rare edition of this important comedy, published in Amsterdam the same year as the first edition was published in Paris. 71 pp plus fine engraved frontispiece. Issued 12mo, but in the late 18th century a bibliophile carefully separated the leaves of this copy and mounted them into much larger leaves of very fine bluish laid paper, presumably to make reading this play more comfortable. Large 8vo. Bound in late 18th-century quarter vellum and boards. Minor wear to binding, internally very clean. A RARE AND IMPRESSIVE EXAMPLE OF 18TH-CENTURY FRENCH BIBLIOPHILIA.
