Raphael came to Rome at the beginning of the 16th century when the city was on its way to becoming the capital of the Renaissance.
The Raphael frescoes in the Vatican (the Stanze, Logge, and the Stufetta) are among his more prestigious works. The Pinacoteca Vaticana houses his tapestries and oil paintings, providing a complete panorama of Raphael's artistic career.
This book also takes a look at the works of his school in the Vatican and other paintings by the artist in Rome.
