London, Her Majesty's Stationery Office, 1883. 4to (31.9 x 24.9 cm). 142 pp.; 55 plates with explanatory text leaves, four woodcuts in the text. Later red wrappers. = The British zoologist and professor of natural history at the Hancock Museum in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, George Stewardson Brady (1832-1921) was one of the foremost ostracod and copepod specialists of the late 19th century. Brady's well-illustrated monograph, was published in volume VIII of the reports on scientific data and specimens collected during the grandest and most influential circumglobal scientific cruise, and the largest natural history endeavour of the 19th century, published in over 50 volumes dealing with numerous kinds of - mostly marine - life forms. The binding is simple. A few fore edges a bit frayed; bookblock a bit cocked, otherwise very good, clean. Rare. Nissen ZBI, 4754.
