Elephant folio (552 x 397 mm), 98pp., [some blank, numbered 1-49 on recto only], large hand-coloured folding plan on vellum, with a short closed tear, 22 full-page hand-coloured plans, also tipped-in is the published Act ìAn Act for effecting a Partition of the Landed Estates of Josiah Robins deceased in and near to Birmingham and elsewhere, and for facilitating the Erection and Endowment of a Church thereon, and for authorising the Application of Moneys, subject to the Trusts of his Will, towards the Expenses of making Bridges, for the Benefit of Parts of his Estates; and for other Purposes. [13th August, 1859î, small folio, [30]pp., contemporary full morocco, gilt, scuffed, title in gilt on upper cover. A detailed assessment and valuation of the property of Josiah Robins of Birmingham. Comprises a Memorandum of Agreement from the beneficiaries of Josiah Robinsís estate with detailed schedules of all the property with accompanying maps and plans, showing tenants or lessees, extent in acres, leases and yearly rents. Josiah Robins (c.1776-1844) set up as a surveyor in 1808 at Birmingham. In 1818 he was joined by Cornelius Robins and in 1821 by Ebenezer Robins, both possibly his sons. From 1835 until 1839, he is listed in trade directories as of Aston Brook, where he died 23 December 1844, aged 68. He was known to have produced a Plan of Birmingham Waterworks [1811] and enclosure maps of Erdington & Witton. He was a major landowner in Aston, and also owned property in Handsworth and in Llandanwg, Merionethshire. In his will he left money and land for the building of St. Maryís, Aston Brook.
