Descrizione

From the library of Prof. Wolfgang Haase, long-time editor of ANRW and the International Journal of the Classical Tradition (IJCT). - Spine slightly yellowed with small damage, small crease in front cover and on the last few pages, otherwise good. Author dedication on title page. / Rcken leicht vergilbt mit kleiner Beschgung, Knick in Buchdeckel und auf letzten Seiten, sonst gut. Autorenwidmung auf Titelblatt. - This monograph consists of two prosopographical catalogues. The first is inclusive and includes all Athenians with Roman citizenship from A.D. 96 to 161. The second is selective and includes Athenian holders of important Roman and Athenian magistracies and priesthoods during the same period. Catalogue I is arranged by Roman nomina; non-imperial nomina in alphabetical order are followed by nomina borne by Roman emperors in the order in which those emperors ruled. The scheme of listing is that of the second edition of Prosopographia Imerii Roman, the still unfinished catalogue of notables throughout the Roman Empire, which was begun by A. Stein and E. Groag in 1933 and is now under the supervision of an international committee. As in PIR, in the present writer's catalogue, the position of each individual name under each family nomen is determined first by the third name, a cognomen for Westerners or a Greek name for Easterners, and secondly by the praenomen, which rarely but sometimes varied within Greek families.
