Ex reference library book with usual (minimal) marks and stamps. A very clean very tight copy with bright unmarked boards and no bumping to corners. Dust jacket not price clipped or marked or torn or creased with slightly faded spine and very minor traces of storage. 116pp. Piers were originally built for the disembarkation of visitors by boat arriving at the newly fashionable seaside resorts in the early 19th century, Their function soon changed however when they developed into the seaside pleasure pier as a total of eighty-four piers were built in England, Wales and the Isle of Man.
