First edition thus, LIMITED to 1500 hand-numbered copies and SIGNED by the illustrator, Reginald Marsh. With numerous illustrations throughout from crayon drawings by Reginald Marsh. Large 8vo, publisher’s original brown cloth boards backed in natural unbleached linen and with a leather label on the spine lettered in gilt, t.e.g. In the original glassine wrapper and original slipcase with paper label printed in black. xiv, 387 pp. A very fine copy, the book as new, the slipcase is very fine as well, the rarely preserved glassine is still largely intact though is separated into two pieces at one of the spine folds, the spine with some loss as well

Edizione: first of the edition. dreiser’s masterpiece, first published in 1900, proved to be the first realistic novel in our literature. reginald marsh's illustrations evoke a nostalgic record of america at the end of the 19th century. the edition was printed by joseph blumenthal at the spiral press in new york. in all a beautiful production reflecting the fine work done for limited editions club.
