First and only edition of this adaptation from Russian playwright, novelist, and short-story writer Leonid Nikolaievich Andreyev (1871-1919), adapted by Turkish director Muhsin Ertugrul (1892-1979), in the early period of the Turkish Republic. Muhsin Ertugrul adapted Turkish names for the characters in his book. The early 20s coincided with a period when Muhsin Ertugrul's relations with Nazim Hikmet [Ran] got closer in Moscow, where he also met famous theater actors such as Konstantin Stanislavski.
