Galibert ricostruisce la storia algerina dall'antichità sino alla dominazione francese con esaustivi resoconti sulle varie dominazioni che si avvicendarono nel paese nei secoli: romana, vandala, greco-bizantina, araba, turca, francese. L'oepra è composta da due volumi che risultano mancanti di tutte le tavole e delle seguenti pagine: nel primo tomo dalla 433 alla 480, nel secondo tomo dalla 425 alla 440 e dalla 552 alla 576.
