A very clean tight copy with bright unmarked leatherette padded boards and no bumping to corners. 240pp. By the editors of Time-Life books with text by Keith Wheeler, this book describes the Old Wild West and the new territory of Alaska, bought from Russia in 1867. Initially it was only slowly settled by the Americans although faster from 1880 when gold was found. The people and the land shown in a wealth of detail with superb period black & white photos from the 19th century . Also some colour paintings.
