2 volumes. First edition thus, a combined edition faithfully reprinting the original Almanacks published between 1835 and 1853. Adorned with "many hundred" illustrations by George Cruikshank and others being “Righte Merrie” cuts pertaining to the months and various events and seasons, a number of which are fold-out. 8vo, bound in very handsome full royal blue calf by Zaehnsdorf, the boards double-gilt framed with rose cornerpieces, the spines very elaborately gilt decorated in compartments between gilt-tooled raised bands, with three red morocco labels gilt tooled and lettered, gilt ruled edges, gilt tooled turn-ins, marbled endpapers, t.e.g. Internally fine and very well preserved, uncommonly clean with just a very occasional hint of spotting, solid. The bindings are firm and attractive with minor wear at the edges and shoulders, slight chipping to the spine caps, the spines toned a bit.
