Simon, a British industrialist, politician and public servant, had a long association with the University of Manchester where Polanyi was a professor at the time of publication. Ink stamp reading "University of Manchester Broomcroft Hall" atop front free endpaper and inside back board solidifies this provenance as it was then the residence of the Simons. ix, [1], 116 pages.
