First edition, second printing, same year as the first. With fifteen black and white illustrations on eight plates and with six large folding maps and charts which are in a pocket at the rear. Large 8vo, publisher's original navy blue cloth, the spine gilt lettered and ruled and with a large gilt device of an anchor with crown and laurel branches, the upper cover with similar device in blind. xii, [6], 331 pp. A fine copy, the cloth is rich and dark, unfaded and with bright gilt, the text is clean and free of spots or foxing, a touch of even and uniform mellowing to the ivory.
