Description
This is a very good hardcover copy in brown patterned-cloth boards, generally clean inside. But pages 63- 65 have several old tears which a previous owner repaired with a clear tape. With 33 beautiful black and white, and color plates, (plate 16 absent, not published). This book expands upon a lecture that the author gave in 1892, at the Royal Institute in London, on the then popular "Japanesque" style. Piggott is most interested in tracing the development of certain motifs common in Japanese decorative arts, like wave and cloud forms, or lattice work designs, Greek key borders, etc. 11 1/2" high X 8 1/2" wide, 130 pages. This book will be securely packed and shipped with tracking.
