This is a near fine hardcover two volume set with fine dust jackets. Both volumes are signed in ink, by the author, Charles Truman, and inscribed to two friends. There is also a slight touch of moisture to the light green endpapers, front and back, of volume 1 which has bled onto the half title-page edge, and last index pages (see photos). Otherwise completely clean throughout. The Rosalinde and Arthur Gilbert Collection of Gold Boxes is one of the world's most comprehensive collections of gold boxes. There are over 140 examples including 54 boxes made in Paris during the eighteenth and early nineteeth centuries. Illustrated throughout in color with 494 color plates in volume 1.
