Part of spine lettering rubbed out. Spine slightly cocked; As a youth of ten, author Roberts saw a two-volume set of Hare's Walks In Rome and purchased the first volume with his pocket money. (two weeks worth! ) The kindly shopkeeper allowed him to take both volumes on a promise of payment the following Saturday, which was duly done, and fifty-five years later, the books still in his possession, Author Roberts undertook a Grand Tour, including Italy, Egypt, Yemen, India, Singapore, present-day Sri Lanka, Hong Kong, Thailand, the USA, and Mexico, among others.
