Everyone's favorite time-travelers are changing their style! "The Time Warp Trio" series now features a brand-new, eye-catching design, sure to appeal to longtime fans, and those new to Jon Scieszka's wacky brand of humor. For his tenth birthday, Joe receives a mysterious blue book (known only as The Book) from his magician uncle and namesake, "Joe the Magnificent." Using an often unpredictable number of voice and print cues, The Book transports Joe and his friends, Fred and Sam, to a variety of different times and places, from Camelot's medieval court of knights and dragons to the year 2105, where they meet their own great-granddaughters. The only way they are able to return to present-day Brooklyn, New York is to find The Book again within whatever time period they are in. Joe goes level by level to be a "Time Wizard" in the series. He often faces his selfish uncle, Mad Jack. Mad Jack strives to get the book from Joe. Anna, Joe's sister, is always eager to have the book. (Which is quite annoying to Joe) Jodie has "The Book" in the future - 2105. It was passed on from Joe's generation to her generation. The girls often save the boys from trouble various times with the book, or come to visit. The Time Warp Trio faces lots of challenges learning how to use The Book. Jon Scieszka (SHEH-ska: which phonetically resembles the Polish word for "path") was born September 8, 1954 in Flint, Michigan and is an American author of children's literature, best known for his collaborations with illustrator Lane Smith. He is also a nationally recognized reading advocate, and the founder of Guys Read ? a web-based literacy program for boys whose mission is "to help boys become self-motivated, lifelong readers." In 2008 was named the National Ambassador for Young People's Literature by the Librarian of Congress. His Time Warp Trio series, which teaches kids history, has been adapted into a television show.
