8vo., First Edition thus; original wrappers printed in red and black, covers very lightly age-soiled else a very good, bright, clean copy. Zephyr Books. A library of British and American authors. No. 162. Similar in concept to the Tauchnitz editions of the previous century, the CBC editions are ' not to be introduced into the British Empire or the USA'. A very well-preserved copy of a scarce version of Chandler's fourth Marlowe thriller, published in the same year as the first edition.
