With 44 illustrations and 3 colour maps. 4to, publisher’s original olive green cloth, upper cover and spine lettered in gilt and black with elaborate pictorial decorations of ancient Greek figures in gilt, black, red. and blind, a.e.g. xii, 400 pp. A very pleasing copy, handsome and very well preserved.
Edizione: a fine descriptive book on greece written for the general public, beautifully illustrated and well-written. much of the research was based on grote’s classic work, while thirlwall and wordworth were also consulted.
