Description
First edition, issue with "£100" on the signpost in the engraved frontispiece and the 10 line errata. With frontispiece and 39 engravings after illustrations by 'Phiz'. 8vo, handsomely bound in fine 3/4 green period antique morocco over patterned boards, the spine with raised bands gilt decorated and ruled in blind, lettered in gilt on a red morocco label bordered in gilt, a.e.m. xiv, errata, 624 pp. A handsome and appealing copy in a fine state of preservation. The frontispiece and vignette title-page only lightly mellowed and some plates with a bit of the edge-spotting typically encountered, but a copy very clean and fresh otherwise and generally quite free of the great browning associated with the engravings in copies of Dickens’ first edition novels.
