The sale consisted of one item: The Nitta Maitreya, so called because this circa 7th century A.D. gilt bronze sculpture of the Buddha, is in the collection of Muneichi Nitta. Christie's thought that because the sculpture was very rare it would sell for around HK$40 million. In the event there were only three bids, the last at HK$30 million when the lot was bought in. Illustrated elaborately in color with many photographs and detail shots, also comparendi. 12" high X 9" wide, 56 pages.
