Description

London, The Palaeontographical Society, 1914-1925. Two volumes in eight. 4to (28.3 x 21.8 cm). 900 pp. [xii, 483; 484-900]; 65 [44; 45-65] plates, several text figures. Original blue wrappers with printed labels, or reprinter's printed wrappers. = A rare, complete set of all the individual parts that comprise Harmer's magnum opus. These are the Palaeontographical Society Monographs issue numbers 330, 333, 337, 341 (together Part I), 344, 346, 352, and 354 (Part II). Both parts have separate indexes, but plate and page numbering is consecutive. The numbers 346 and 354 (last two) in the Johnson Reprint edition, but all are rare and very difficult to obtain. The illustrations are very good, and the descriptions detailed and accurate. Many new species are included. Some shelf-wear and some spines chiped or partly split, a few blind rear wrappers missing; a few issues with an old stamp on the front wrapper, plate versos, or title, but otherwise a very clean set. Very good and rarely seen complete. Nissen ZBI, 1833.
