First edition, first printing. 8vo, publisher’s blue cloth backed boards, lettered in blind on the upper cover and in gilt on the spine, in the original dustjacket. 567pp. A fine copy with only minor evidence of age, the jacket is quite fine as well.
Edizione: conroy’s most famous book, considered by many as a masterpiece of the 1980s. the film, produced in 1991, was nominated for seven academy awards including best picture. while the film was a box office hit and raised barbara streisand's reputation as a director, its numerous changes from the original novel upset many conroy purists.
