This catalog was prepared to accompany the exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles from June 4 to August 20, 2000. The exhibition was organized by Cornelia H. Butler. Catalog edited by Max Kozloff with contributions by Emily Apter, Cornelia H. Butler, A. D. Coleman, and Liz Kotz. The photographers in the exhibition included Diane Arbus, Brassai, Robert Frank, Lee Freidlander, Helen Levitt, Danny Lyon, Roger Mertin, John Pfahl, and Garry Winogrand.
