Author's dedication and Latin poems by Pietro Paolo Quaglino, Onorato Gay and Francesco Saverio Mercandino dedicated to Vittorio Amedeo II. Contemporary vellum over boards, spine with 5 raised bands and manuscript title (bottom spine partially detached, slightly worn and rubbed, small worm holes to the spine, front joint partly cracked). Minor foxing and browning at places. A good and genuine copy.
First edition of this rare legal treatise dedicated to the reigning monarch Vittorio Amedeo II. A first hand testimony on the Jewish life and legal condition in the early 18th century in the Kingdom of Sardinia and its dependent principalities: Piedmont, Nice, Savoy. The author, Joseph Sessa, was a lawyer in the Savoy Senate, and one of the judges appointed in Piedmont to regulate the affairs of the Jews.
