Description
An early reprint of the first edition, virtually identical in appearance and format. Illustrated with over 300 drawings by the author, including plates and drawings within the text and marginal drawings of wildlife and Indian dwellings. And with an illustrated titlepage designed by his wife, Grace Gallatin Seton, printed in black and green. 8vo, publisher's original pale green cloth decorated in a nature motif in dark green with birds, plants, moons, and pine cones, the upper cover with a gilt and black emblem, the spine lettered and decorated in gilt and black. xvii, 552pp. A very nice copy, especially so as this was a book often read time-and-time again and frequently outdoors by flashlight or lantern. The text is as clean and fresh as one could hope, the binding solid, firm with strong hinges.
