With the Appendix ending on p. 285, and with the Sequel, the advertisements at the end of the volume undated, with the Preface only, the Revised Preface issued with later printings is not present in this volume, the listing of Books Already Published, listing only 27 titles. Illustrated with a full-page map at the beginning of the text. 8vo, publisher's original red cloth, stamped in blind on the upper and lower covers, the spine panel rebacked sympathetically with near matching red cloth, lettered in gilt. xvi,[2], 301, [16 ads.] pp. A well preserved copy, the binding strong, the text-block in pleasing condition, lightly mellowed.
