Women Empowerment Government Programmes Perspective

ABOUT THE BOOK:- Empowerment of women is essential in the process of improving of economic, social and political status of women, the traditionally underprivileged ones, in the society. It is the process of guarding them against all forms of violence. Women empowerment involves the building up of a society, a political environment, wherein women can breathe without the fear of oppression, exploitation, apprehension, discrimination and the general feeling of persecution, which goes with being a woman in a traditionally male dominated structure Women empowerment and gender equality concepts are important in fostering health and human development. Empowerment describes the process of change where an individual with prior inability to choose has the access and freedom to make choices. Empowerment has both intrinsic as well as instrumental value. This book focused on the practices and challenge of the government progrmmes towards women empowerment and explained the effectiveness of the policy advocacy work which focused at empowering the women at grassroots. The research study was conducted at Makuey Woreda, Ethiopia. This book focused on women empowerment through participation in various developmental activities and explained the terms include self-strength, self-control, self-power, selfreliance, personal choice, capability of fighting for one's rights, independence, own decision making power, freedom etc. This book is very useful to those who are working with women at grassroots for empowerment. It provides insights on women issues to promote qualitative services and also helps to develop professional knowledge and skills.
