Volume in 8 grande, tela editoriale, piatto anteriore figurato, titolo al piatto ed al dorso decorato, sguardie, antiporta protetta da velina, frontespizio, 479 pp., ricchissima e spettacolare iconografia nel testo con vignette e tavole anche a piena pagina. Resoconto dell'esplorazione artica condotta a partire dal Luglio del 1879 e che si concluse tragicamente per la gran parte dei partecipanti, scampando solo in pochi, ritrovati dopo affannose ricerche da spedizioni successive. Il racconto quanto mai vivo, preciso ed a volte liricamente accorato. Si deve al coraggio ed al sacrificio di tali persone la conoscenza di terre inospitali e sconosciute. In pi che bello stato, di grandissimo interesse, Prima edizione poco comune.
