Ideò e creò la camera oscura così come sarà applicata nel suo concetto alle prime macchine fotografiche. La sua opera è sulla scia del gesuità Athanasius Kircher. La carta del Mediterraneo deriva da quella dello stesso Kircher (1665) e rappresenta le correnti marine.Incisione in rame, in ottimo stato di conservazione. Rara. It includes celestial maps after Hevelius, maps of the sun and moon after Eimmart, and world maps, one after Kircher.Johann Zahn (1641-1707) belonged to the order of the Premonstratensian canons of Herbipolis (today's Würzburg) and was a pupil of Kircher.
