L’opera venne pubblicata per la prima volta in Roma, presso Lazzarini nel 1804, e quindi ristampata nella prima metà del XIX secolo. (ritratto di Pio VII, 2 piante topografiche incise ripiegate e 47 tavv. di vedute nel primo volume, 40 tavv. di vedute nel secondo). Mariano Vasi è stato un editore e imprenditore italiano nel campo della calcografia. Mariano è figlio del noto incisore di origine siciliana Giuseppe Vasi. Privo di una personalità artistica autonoma e definita, Mariano affiancò il padre nella bottega calcografica, situata al piano terreno di Palazzo Farnese, a Roma. Alla morte del padre, nel 1782, Mariano continuò a pubblicarne le opere, comprese le ' Magnificenze di Roma antica e moderna, ' incaricando vari artisti - in genere di modesta levatura - di modificarle o di dipingerle all'acquarello, laddove necessario. Mariano inoltre continuò a pubblicare e ad aggiornare le guide turistiche scritte dal padre, prima fra tutti ' l'Itinerario Istruttivo ' diviso in otto giornate. The work was published for the first time in Rome, by Lazzarini in 1804, and then reprinted in the first half of the nineteenth century. Exemplar taken from the edition of 1820, with a total of 90 intaglio plates (portrait of Pius VII, 2 topographical plans engraved folded and 47 tables of views in the first volume, 40 tables of views in the second). Mariano Vasi was an Italian publisher and entrepreneur in the field of intaglio. Mariano is the son of the famous engraver of Sicilian origin Giuseppe Vasi. Lacking an autonomous artistic personality and defined, Mariano joined his father in the intaglio workshop, located on the ground floor of Palazzo Farnese in Rome. At the death of his father, in 1782, Mariano continued to publish his works, including the ' Magnificenze di Roma antica e moderna, ' (Magnificences of ancient and modern Rome), commissioning various artists - usually of modest standing - to modify them or to paint them in watercolor, where necessary. Mariano also continued to publish and update the tourist guides written by his father, first and foremost the ' Itinerario Istruttivo ' divided into eight days.
